The softened bread and crispy cheese made a stellar onion soup comparable to some of the better ones I’ve had.
I picked at the poultry, taking in some bread with every couple of bites in an attempt to reduce the burning in my mouth, but it was to no avail as I finished the chicken super happy, but with the fire of hell in my oral cavity.
On our way home from running a 5K, we thought it a good idea to grab some brunch and recharge our batteries. We ended up at Palace Diner on Franklin St. in Biddeford – somewhere we wouldn’t normally venture to – where we hoped we didn’t smell bad enough to be escorted out or look […]
A Thursday whim took my wife and me to the Free St. location of El Rayo. Though there’s also one in Scarborough, the Portland eatery is more conveniently located for us. It remained open for a spell under its former name after changing hands and the new owners closed for renovations earlier this year to reopen as Chaval. As a frequent visitor in its past incarnation, Mrs. Portlandeater was ready to go […]
As the Mayweather/McGregor boxing match descends upon us, it is being hyped to a point that no other fight in combat sports ever has. The intrigue, of course, comes from taking one of the best boxers of all time and matching him up with one of the best MMA fighters of all time. There been […]
Roma Cafe closed in 2009, capping off off 85 years of serving Italian food in Portland. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to try them then. For that reason, when they reopened just last month, I really wanted to check them out. They had so much history in the area and that alone gave me […]
